Jason Langa was born in 1997 in Johannesburg. His work is a representation of his immediate society, with commentary particularly focussed on youth culture.

He is inspired by people who strive to do and be their best in the vocational and personal spheres of their lives and his work represents the scenes and activities that are often associated with the youth of this country. He views the youth and the content of their every day as an integral part  greater society.

Emotion plays a significant role in his work and he portrays this effectively through the employ of colour as a replacement for skin tones. The various colours represent the different emotions we move through and feel as human beings and therefore promotes a level of empathy and emotional connection between his work and the viewer.

Jason has exhibited prints and participated in various Artist Proof Studio related projects since 2020 such as the Student Lockdown Collection (2020), Green Economic Recovery project (2020) as well as the Waste Reclaimers, at Documenta 15, Kassel, Germany, as part of the APS, UJ & UP student print collaboration exchange (2022). He has also exhibited his paintings at Denzil’s & Jo Gallery, Melville (2022) and has collaborated with Doktor and Misses and contributed an artwork for a set design for a Netflix show in 2022.
